About Us - Just A Horse Rescue and Sanctuary

Elaine states she has loved horses since she was a child, but did not start really interacting with them until her kids were grown. She states “I bought my first horse, and soon had three. My herd continued to grow. There was just something about horses that made me want to spend time with them. They are such a calming and relaxing influence when you spend time with them in their pasture. I love watching them interact and see how the majority of the time they all enjoy being together.”

In the fall of 2020, she started considering opening a sanctuary for horses. There were several rescues in the area, however ,she felt that horses should be able to live their lives with the horses they become comfortable with, as they build relationships just as people do. The Sanctuary opened in the spring of 2021.

Initially she just wanted to give horses a safe place to live their lives, but the majority of the horses she had previously rescued and rehomed had really enjoyed the interaction with people and soon, with the backing of the Board, decided to promote the horse/human relationship.

We are currently reaching out to schools, youth and special needs programs to offer the benefits of the interaction with horses, We offer the opportunity for people of all ages to volunteer at the sanctuary; grooming, feeding, learning about respecting horses, or just spending time with the horses in their own environment. We are also offering basic riding lessons.

Turning Interest Into Action

Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. Just A Horse Rescue and Sanctuary emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2021, we’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Contact us to learn more and get involved.
